A summer wedding in Lefkada

A Dutch couple decided to get married in Greece and especially in one of the most beautiful islands, Lefkada. Daniëlle and Herbert used to visit Lefkada for the past two years for vacation and they though it would be the perfect place to exchange their vows. This wedding you are going to love it for two reasons… First is a DIY wedding and Daniëlle took care of every detail, and the couple decided to have a “first look” before their wedding which was magically captured by Monika Kritikou of Fiorello Photography. Oh! How much you are gonna miss summer…

Daniëlle and Herbert met back in 2004 at a birthday party of a common friend. They started talking and it was no longer after when they fell in love. Yeah, sometimes that happens too… Two years before they got married Herbert kneed and asked Daniëlle to marry him while they were on vacation at Zakynthos.

What we really loved about his wedding is the fact that the couple decided to have a “first look” before getting married. That means that the groom is allowed to see the bride before the wedding. The moment was very emotional for both of them since they decided to have this first look in front of their friends and families. “That was definitely the most touching moment of our wedding. We were surrounded by our guests but we only saw each other”.

Their wedding was DIY from A to Z, Daniëlle made the invitations herself, while she also took care her make up. Their wedding colors were deep blue, light blue and purple. Her bridal bouquet might be one of the most beautiful bouquets we have ever seen!

Their wedding ceremony took place right by the sea where their beloved ones shared words of love with them. At the end they celebrated at a nearby tavern with scrumptious food and good wine.

“We found Monika‘s website when searching for a photographer in Greece to photograph our wedding at Lefkada island. With more than average knowledge of photography our standards were sky high but we loved everything about Monika‘s portfolio and contacted her through e-mail. Although we live in The Netherlands it was no problem to communicate with her, she was very responsive, friendly and helpful. When we met her at Lefkada island it was like meeting a friend since we’ve become friends throughout the whole process. She was invisible at our wedding day while photographing every special moment and we had lovely before and after wedding photo shoots. We had a great time and she delivered stunning photos with which she exceeded our expectations!”.

It was a summer wedding that stole our hearts and definitely we just can’t wait for summer to come! And to be honest we are jealous about how simple and romantic everything was in this wedding. Well done Daniëlle!
