Intimate wedding in Crete

Small, intimate weddings have something really special. When you decide to get married with only your very close family and friends, then the whole ceremony becomes very intimate and warm. That’s how the wedding of Whitney and Dan was. The couple decided to come all the way from Chicago and get married at a small village in Crete.

“ I worked at a restaurant across the street from where my husband lived. He would come in for coffee on Sundays and my coworkers and I all refered to him as “cute coffee guy”. Years later we ran into each other at the pub on the corner and he asked me for number. He proposed first thing in the morning. We had already been dating for five years and bought a house together six months earlier. One morning he put a blazer on, over his tshirt and shorts that he’d worn to bed and came into the bedroom with a tray of candles and a ring in the middle. Even after all these years, he was still very nervous. It was so sweet. He had a fun day planned followed by a romantic night away”.

“When we first saw our wedding pictures we thought to ourselves that they were They were absolutely gorgeous. Because we were doing such a small wedding, I really didn’t feel the need for photographers. I thought guests would take plenty of photos and that would be fine. I didn’t really think we’d ever sit and look at our photos. Also, many of my friends had terrible experiences with their photographers. It seemed like an unnecessary expense. I could not have been more wrong. While we did get some beautiful pictures from our guests, the professional photographers captured so many moments that I had either completely forgotten about or didn’t get to witness, day of. When you’re in the moment you don’t realize or remember everything that is happening. I can’t stress enough how pleased we are with the work that they did and they were absolutely lovely people to work with. We really will treasure the photographs forever!”.

Whitney’s advice to all future brides to be is:

"Be well rested! I was so stressed out that I got very little sleep the nights before. Just remember that you are celebrating your love and that everyone there is to celebrate with you. Everyone wants to have a great time and will do so, if you too have a great time."
